Re: Red Pitaya

There are certainly applications for higher sampling rate than a standard sound card will do. The analog discovery board https://store.digilentinc.com/analog-discovery-2-pro-bundle/ is a lot cheaper and still does a lot. I need an impedance analyser for my vinyl playings and was considering this to ...

Re: Red Pitaya

Somewhat offputting that all the software runs on a browser. But then again a full Virtins multi-intrument suite is around $500

Affordable umblicals.

I've realised that I have backed myself into a corner with the nice suspended child resistant shelves I put up to put the stereo on as it's a giant pain to get to the back of units to plug cables in. As I'm yet to put the connectors on the new preamp the temptation is high to stick Dsub25s on there ...

Re: Stored Code? Real Men Use Logic Gates, Flip Flops, Diodes and Transistors

This beasty has ridiculous slew rate for an audio amp*. It also wins an award for perhaps the worst bit of DIY construction ever. I'll take some photos when I get around to fixing its brother. But hey, two free amps, only one caught fire. Needs must etc. Loving the power of a digital preamp though. ...

Re: Stored Code? Real Men Use Logic Gates, Flip Flops, Diodes and Transistors

It is MOSFET output stage. I'd not actually paid much attention to it before as was given it as a stop gap until I got the active amp packs built up but someone mentioned something about the design on another forum so I went to look it up. Right now I'm in the position that I have other things to fi...

Re: Stored Code? Real Men Use Logic Gates, Flip Flops, Diodes and Transistors

It's also true that there are a lot of stupid ideas out there! Sadly these days it seems a lot of them get to market (Nest for example). I think the big issue is that, if you are building one of something you can do what the hell you want and it doesn't matter. If you are building 10 million of some...

Re: Entropy

So when is standby not standby? Close to getting my second most delayed project running. This would be the infinity sub I picked up in 1998 missing its controller. Well I have miniDSP now so don't need a controller. Only part missing to get it running is the standby/operate function that used to be ...
