Last time I tried messing with MC loading I nearly went mad so personally ignore it other than setting to manufacturers recommendation. And I don't change cartridges 4 times a day like he sometimes does. I am not going to offer him a 4 way option as that's just way too much soldering for me :D

I would agree. Problem is that he currently has an Ifi phono and he prefers 47k on all MCs on that. Explaining the function of loading isn't helping. But I will keep working on that.

Phono 1 can feed either the Monitor or Record outputs flat or with EQ. IIRC Phono 2 can only feed the record output through the EQ though it can feed the Monitor output either Flat or with EQ. Depending on how you anticipate using it you might reverse the roles of the Record and Monitor outputs. I ...

I've seen the Mississipi. Reminded me of kipling and the 'grey green greasy limpopo' :). It's somewhat wider than we have to deal with in UK other than estuaries, but all our rivers are fairly weedy compared to even Europe let alone the rest of the world. I do have a packet of reed relays I was given that would work for this. Worth a try using them. Not keen on normal relays for signals to low to guarantee conduction. Will mull on that.
