Re: Residential Lighting with LEDs: Retrofitting the Pink Ranch

LED lamps. You can roll your own. LED module + constant current power supply + heatsink. Modules from 10W to 100W and compatible CCS are available at very low prices direct from China. Heatsink, I am pretty sure you have or can get from junk. Have fun designing a decent assembly with good protection...

I see, the place is humid.
Pecan tree.
I know of a Pecan tree that gives very poorly but was good before.
Could that be because of insects ?

Re: home improvement turns into science fair projects?

The typical pattern is that it can take several days to finally get all the water out after it stops raining because more water slowly seeps in from the surrounding ground water. The slitted drain pipes buried into the bottom of the rain ditch will help move ground water out of the area. I am drain...

I see an interesting point. Sensing the pump's motor current, nothing directly involved with water is a very safe solution.

Water together with mains power can be a safety hazard.

Re: Entropy

Wrong thread diameter.... I would have fallen in that trap.
Pipe threads are tricky.
Not only diameter and pitch matters.
I got aware recently of conical threads.
On 1"1/2 firehoses.

Re: Arduino LED "Roto" Clock and other Arduino Projects

Excellent. The temperature compensation does work perfectly.

One can tweak the clock frequency with the "aging offset" register with a 0.1ppm resolution.

One can get the temperature with a 0.25°C resolution from a 10 bits register.

Re: Arduino LED "Roto" Clock and other Arduino Projects

This clock accuracy, 2 ppm, is pretty amazing at this low cost $2.50. I presumed integrating a crystal had a substantial cost. Not so, this looks like magic to me. The DS3231 TCXO has a 0-40°C time base error of only ±2 ppm vs the almost 60 ppm error of the DS1307's external crystal.

I think I paid about $2.50 US for the DS3231 module.
Is the DS3231 a module or an IC ?
Is the Xtal integrated inside the IC ?

Who knows ?

In France, it is forbidden by law to collect statistics on race, ethnicity or religion.
