Re: THAT4316 Battery-Powered One Knob Squeezer Guitar Compressor
Yeah, effect inputs are a strange breed. They need to deal with a range from a couple ohms up to possibly 250k. Worst case Les Paul is 125k, but I've seen effect outputs with 1M pots :? . Choose your poison. You should sell the PC boards! I'm not sure there is too much enthusiasm among the audio cro...

Re: THAT4316 Battery-Powered One Knob Squeezer Guitar Compressor
Thanks for looking into it Wayne and JR, food for thought. At the moment I'm just contemplating the idea of making a basic signal path for a guitar pedal, combined with a digital sidechain. The THAT analog engines make that a fair bit easier by providing the RMS output, saves rectification and LOG-i...

https://abload.de/thumb/unbenannt34cs6.png https://abload.de/thumb/imag024555qqe2p.jpg I designed and ordered the pcbs already quite a while ago, but only recently got around to building it. It's a great and neutral sounding compressor! It works really well for me in almost any setting. With clean ...

Re: Feedforward / look-ahead compressor
hazmo - The EMT266 Transient Limiter schematics were very interesting particularly the all-pass stages. Why not do the all-pass as it's shown using modern op amps? Wayne, as I said I don't intend to build anything in that direction, my opening post was merely out of interest for the technology invo...

Re: Feedforward / look-ahead compressor
Thanks for the input! I got hold of the service manual of the EMT 266 Transient Limiter. Here are the block diagram and part of the schematic . Two blocks of four 2-pole allpass filters are utilized for an overall delay of 300µs. Also note the fairly elaborate lowpass in front, probably in order to ...

Re: Feedforward / look-ahead compressor
Thanks, yes, that should be easy enough. But as I said, it's not the actual sound processing I'm after.
I would be mainly interested in seeing how the delay is achieved in analog hardware.

Re: Feedforward / look-ahead compressor
Found this thread where several pieces of equipment are mentioned. No gory details though. I'll start by looking for the Neumann, might be the easiest to come by for me.

Feedforward / look-ahead compressor
Hi gentlemen,
could somebody point out some example circuits using a delay in the signal path? It's only of academic interest to me, but I'd love to see what different approaches were taken. Allpass filter, BBD (?), ...

Re: Recent Electronic Design Ideas for Design
The tone control is just like the one made famous by the Big Muff guitar pedal, aside from different filter settings. Pretty useful and effective in that context. Of course, no idea where it is originally from, but Elektro Harmonix launched the pedal in the early 70s.

Re: An Improved Servo for the THAT1510 and THAT1512
Go for it. I've PM'd bruno to post his sch which is being used in his remote truck. It's the same as page one's schematic. We know it works at the cost of an extra op amp. Only the engineering mind is the one that is a little unsatisfied ;). Cost wasn't much of an argument anyway, I get OP07s in si...
