Re: T Attenuator Termination Kluge

Thanks. I’m happy with it. Crosstalk -90dBu at 20K. The input is AC coupled. After that everything is DC coupled. Now I have to put the new pot in the other Output Amp.

Re: T Attenuator Termination Kluge

It turns out it had nothing to do with the termination resistor. There were a few things that needed sorting out. The major thing was a different grounding scheme. Now I get cutoff better than the Portable One can measure. I had to put the TKD pots before the Bridged T attenuators. The 12Ω-14Ω serie...

Re: T Attenuator Termination Kluge

I figured it out. The 10K TKD didn't like the 5K termination resistor for the T attenuators. When I bypassed the termination resistor I got over 80dB cutoff. I'll have to think about the wiring now. If I put the TKD before the 5K Bridged T switches they will still see a 5K load, so that probably won...

-56 dB at cutoff seems high to me.

You would expect more attenuation at the fully CCW position right?

Re: T Attenuator Termination Kluge

Although the invoice said there was a detent at the fully CW position there wasn't. It's frustrating but I think I'll keep them. The series resistance of these are all between 12Ω and 14Ω. That's much better. On the spec sheet it says Max Attenuation 50dB and Cutoff Better Than 80dB. At the fully CC...

Re: T Attenuator Termination Kluge

The TKD pots arrived today. Teeth clenched, wish me luck.

Re: MM flat preamp … i need a set of fresh ears

A resistively-loaded transducer's load is "reflected" back into the generator immediately. A transformer-coupled load is reflected back into the generator after a delay. Damnit. I've been happy with the transformer and the MM preamp. I had no interest in the MC preamp but this piques my interest. I...

Re: Entropy

When we don’t have the well going we are stingy with water. We use alcohol to clean dishes. My GF grew up in Colorado and had friends in a hippie commune with no running water. She learned a lot of tricks for low water consumption.

Re: Entropy

We don’t have heat set up to keep the bladder pressure tank from freezing. We have just been buying water. We’ll buy water for October through January. We don’t keep the road plowed after that because it’s expensive and dragging batteries up the hill in deep snow is getting old. We started using the...

Re: Entropy

3M calls the water filter a cartridge but it is a single unit that mounts in what is basically a bracket with in and out connections. That means it’s not easy to empty it. The filter that cracked lasted three years so I didn’t do too bad. I guess after September I’ll have to empty it as best I can, ...
