Re: Entropy

I had to look on a map to see where that is, looks like a long drive from anywhere (while 87 should be a decent road). I've never even been close, I visited Burlington VT back in the 60's and my brother lived near Syracuse for several years when he was doing turbine design for GE... Do you get lake...

Re: Entropy

Now you know someone there! The Adirondacks has almost an opposite feel to the Rockies or the Sierras. It feels very closed in most of the time. Sometimes it feels like you are almost in an indoor space.

Re: Entropy

Now there's some real entropy to reverse,,, "Nice" beaver pond? Beaver damns are often considered nuisances. It's on state land in the Wilderness area. No problem. Since it's shallow it will freeze early and be great for ice skating. Do you have any running water on your property, you cou...

Re: Entropy

Roger, I love the boonies too. Yes, the Adirondacks. We are in Schroon Lake. Pronounced the Dutch way as Skroon. We are surrounded by state land. The wilderness area we border is 10.5 miles east/west by 7.5 miles north/south. There is only one north south foot trail and a couple of short trails near...

Re: Entropy

Since there is no electric service at the ADK place I've had to get battery powered power tools. I've never liked them. Up until now I've never been more than an extension cord away. I also have Fein hand drills which are the best hand drills made. They invented the hand drill in the late 1800's. I'...

Re: Entropy

I did a lot of tree clearing last time I was at my place in ADK. I got this Japanese hand saw called a Sugowaza by Silky Saw. That thing is amazing. Eight strokes to go through a 6" around cedar or other softwood. Smooth as silk, ha. I'm terrified of chainsaws. I also hate the idea of all that ...

Re: An Improved Dual Class-A Output: The "DCAO2"

PS I've been kicking the tires on Bruno Putzeys class D modules but 70EU per channel has me in sticker shock (for 6 channels of audio). They also sell a switching PS module so it should be like lincoln logs or lego blocks, just not my idea of cheap. As I have recently found out prefab is much more ...

Re: An Improved Dual Class-A Output: The "DCAO2"

Looks great Wayne. I'll have to take a closer look at that gain stage. There is a lot to take in.

I was holding off using this for a line amp until I could figure out a gain stage. This of course is far better than anything I could come up with.

Re: Dual Class-A Line and Headphone Output Board Documents

With a 50K pot you might want to add a coupling cap due to bias current. The value is a little high for the load impedance of the 1646 and may bow the taper but that's not your immediate problem. I must admit I don't really know how to look at the DRV134 for input impedance because the usage is non...
