Re: Dual Class-A Line and Headphone Output Board Documents

"I" and "O" refer to the circuit inputs and outputs, not the pot's In and Out. Ahh, that sounds right. I misunderstood the labelling. I should have double checked the schematic. I probably did just that for the other build and figured "I got this" for this one. Nope. T...

Re: Dual Class-A Line and Headphone Output Board Documents

I'm having a bit of an issue. With the 50k audio taper pot at the top of the throw (all the way up) I get distortion during the first 30º or so of rotation. It sounds like a scratchy pot but sounds the same on both channels of one pot and the same on both channels of the other pot. The buildout resi...

Re: Dual Class-A Line and Headphone Output Board Documents

I got them from Parts Connection. They were the only place I could find that had the TKD. They are very nice. The channel matching is excellent and they feel expensive. If I had known the new Alps were 27mm square and would fit in a 1RU case I would have used those. The TKD are a good alternative to...

Re: Dual Class-A Line and Headphone Output Board Documents

I got the replacement TKD pots in. They didn't have good 10K pots so I went with 50k. Seems okay. It will be a whole new world with headphones in the studio.

Re: Dual Class-A Line and Headphone Output Board Documents

I've done experiments with heatpipes I had never heard of a heat pipe. A quick search turns up a tube filled with liquid. I think a home brew heat pipe is asking for trouble. I see leaks. This is only going to sit on my bench and be dragged around for troubleshooting if needed. Close enough for me.

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX

Another idea I had was to use a little bar stock. Drill it out to the minimum diameter (9/32"), then use a small reamer or tapered bit to taper the hole. Then you could slip it over the transistors until it's tight. It requires a few more tools than a tube but it may work better.

It would have been better if the second rod didn't break... It could be better but this is good enough. I left it on all day and it maintained a decent temperature.

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX

I use Locktite brand adhesive epoxies. The dispenser gun is $20 and the cartridges are about $!5. There are many different epoxies to choose from. The 3M system gun starts at $85 and the epoxies are more expensive too. http://www.mcmaster.com/#high-strength-adhesives/=11ng2e7 Maybe the top of a tin ...
