Re: Dual Class-A Line and Headphone Output Board Documents
Thanks Wayne. I had most of the parts here already. I had the Vishay fusable R's in 10Ω and 1Ω. I ordered the other values. I also ordered some of the 1W Holco's in some of the same values. I didn't know if the fuseable R's had compromises to make them flameproof. I only used flameproof resistors on...

Re: Dual Class-A Line and Headphone Output Board Documents
I'm finally getting around to building one of these as a headphone amp. I don't really like headphones so it wasn't at the top of the list. I think to fully evaluate the Widener board I will need headphones. Wayne and Roger to the rescue. I guess I have a few questions. I don't think a full schemati...

Re: Stereo Width Controller Construction Information
I think we may be the first humans to hear this. I could have set something like this up in software but never bothered. I don't think too many others have thought to do this.mediatechnology wrote:OK, I did a reality check.
It does sound nice.

Re: Stereo Width Controller Construction Information
I guess I got it almost right by mistake. I used a HPF with 0.22uF's and a 604Ω. That would be at about 603Hz. That doubled is about 1k2Hz.mediatechnology wrote: The more I think about it a 1 kHz filter HP will have an effective frequency of 2 kHz.

Re: Stereo Width Controller Construction Information
Thanks for the feedback on the Widener! I come up with 0.13 uF per leg for a 1 kHz filter fc but I think the effective frequency is off by an octave due to the "0.5" gain term in the LR+-S process. Electrically the gain of -6dB, the "0.5," occurs at IC7. I must admit I still don...

Re: Stereo Width Controller Construction Information
I think I screwed up the crossover frequency. Since this is a balanced filter the R value has to be divided in half. I believe with the values I have the crossover is at 604Hz. I need to change the caps to about 0.13uF to get 1K Hz. Or I could be wrong again...

Re: Stereo Width Controller Construction Information
I did an R&D build for this. Wayne sent me a PCB a while ago but I didn't have a chance to check it out. At first blush i didn't see how this was significantly different than using the M/S board. It's significantly different and well worth checking out. Since I have elliptical EQ's already I did...

Re: sous vide
and from years of dealing with loose dogs as a jogger, the main relationship I try to impose with any new dog I encounter is that I am the alpha dog.... are probably told to shut up several times a day by their owners, so often defer to me as alpha. My Dad would let the childhood dog run at night. ...

Re: sous vide
In the dog world there is a distinction between a dog that's a sentinel and a guard dog. For instance in a Tibetan monastery the Lhassa Apso's would sound the alarm barks while the Tibetan mastiff would dispatch unwanted guests.

Re: sous vide
We had chickens for the early part of my childhood. My father was still working on his PhD. in animal behavior using chickens. I find it pretty funny now because he's not very good with animals. When I think about how my childhood dog was trained it makes me cringe. I knew some people with "gua...
