Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX

The single reason for posting the noise graph was to show that there is a limit to were it still makes sense lower the SNR of the Phone-Preamp, because of LP's surface noise. The used preamp for making the graph has a SNR-A of 75dB ref 0.5mV@1kHz which seems to be more than adequate when driven by a...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX

No problem, to which one are you referring: the graph with the 3 different noise measurements, the measurement of the CMRR or the "measurement" of the signal with/without A/D/A. The circuit for which you posted 10Hz_2Khz_1.jpg O.K., that's one step in the direction, but what do you mean w...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX

I'm coming back to an earlier discussion on how how to cope with the current to flow into a cart. Using an electrolytic capacitor to block too much cart current, may result in a serious worsening of the signal. Cyril Bateman did extensive investigation on the distortion caused by capacitors. He did ...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX

Hans, are you going to show us the circuit for which you posted those measurements? No problem, to which one are you referring: the graph with the 3 different noise measurements, the measurement of the CMRR or the "measurement" of the signal with/without A/D/A. We also eagerly await your ...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX

Without any prejudice in favour of LP's, I can only repeat that when and only when (analogue mastered) Vinyl, with all its known imperfections, cannot be be digitized without changing the listening impression, the digital medium is not as perfect as some think. For that reason I reject "To inve...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX

Back in the day when I was designing studio efx...... Ha, ha, It took me a while to realise, you do not really want to participate in the discussion, you just want pamper your memories from the past and make fun. :D :D Hifi (stereo) playback is tragically flawed and will never completely accurately...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX

This experiment would very much depend on which A/D D/A is being used. The only reason I have expensive converters is that they best preserve the sound coming off a tape machine than any others i've heard. I don't think you can draw any blanket conclusions about anything from it. You are absolutely...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX

Again I need to stop before I irritate you guys even more... happy 4th of July JR Hi JR,, Thanks for your extensive answer. I fully respect your opinion, but excuse me to disagree on several points. :D I have published an article in Linear Audio, Vol 10: Pin 1 revisited, adding OEO to an accepted r...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX

[I am probably getting irritatingly repetitive by now, but I see little merit in a massive redesign of vinyl playback technology this late in the game. I applaud all of your efforts to optimize this niche by modifying specific hardware. JR I don't want to be the person who knows it all, but: Are we...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced In Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX

I think I found it. There is a button "Upload attachment" that I first overlooked. So here it is 10Hz_2Khz_1.jpg What you see in this image are from bottom to top: 1) noise L/R with the arm up in the air and the turntable rotating 2) noise L/R when playing a silent groove 3) noise L/R when...
