Re: Channel and Output fader implementation

In the context of Quad panning I would be trying to avoid complexity. Modern parts are so quiet that there is little need to push level to improve S/N, and handling levels above +20 dBu (+26dBu bal) is of questionable benefit, since you would need to single end it to run through a fader or bus gain ...

Re: Channel and Output fader implementation

I've never messed with quad panning, but know a little about summing in general. If the quad pan pots you intend to use, give you the pan law you want, it seems simpler to just work with that. If you want more control over the pan law, VCAs will give you more control but at the cost of more complexi...

Re: summing mixer with monitor control

From a quick browse, it looks like you will get clicks from several switches. 553x opamps have significant input bias current that will cause DC offsets at the impedances used. One technique is to add resistor in series with + input to balance out DC, but most just use DC blocking caps in series wit...

Re: Another claim on first use of artificial reverb

Once again, I wish I could ask my dad... He was a recording engineer for RCA in NYC in '50s, and I think also recorded NBC (or was it CBS) classical orchestra? When I was growing up I recall hearing a 78 lacquer pressing out-take of Stowkowski (?) cursing out the orchestra... but i lost track of tha...

Re: An Idea

Joel has posted his questions on several forums and the discussion has gravitated to a thread here- http://www.prodigy-pro.com/diy/index.php?topic=40053.100 I think checking out the Euphionix series was already suggested there. I have a passing interest in this, but this is not a good use of time fo...

Re: FCS P3S review in TapeOp

I saw the review.. that was a big sloppy wet kiss... good job. The compression slope knob having 50% of travel allocated to < 2:1 compression, will have the beneficial result of encouraging customers to use a lighter hand when dialing in compression... always a good thing. If you were doing ex...

Re: FCS P3S review in TapeOp

congrats...

Indeed a lighted switch button seems a faint criticism... I doubt anybody would not buy one because of that... But put that on the list for the next generation more expensive version.
