Re: HYPEX amps
Why not think about the serious DIY chip amp kits by Tom Christiansen? Key features of the Modulus-86 Rev. 2.1: 65 W (4 Ω), 40 W (8 Ω) output power when using the Power-86 and recommended transformer. Vanishingly low 0.000061 % THD (1 W, 8 Ω, 1 kHz). Ultra-low 0.000067 % THD (40 W, 8 Ω, 1 kHz). Ultr...

Re: Basic Mixer - 1646 output stage - seeking critique
As always, I'm quick to note that:
In an XLR balanced analog interconnect system, the Pin #1 does not connect to the circuit common (aka ground). Pin #1 is a shield and connects to the chassis at the connector.

I hope they engineered these to be accurate after 4 hours and not when first fired up.

Re: modified GFCI
After hunting about I did find the smaller Leviton GFCI's for old work. SmartlockPro® Slim Series GFCIs Install in Any Electrical Box When it comes to GFCI installation, size really does matter. That's why we've trimmed the profile of our industry-leading SmartlockPro GFCI receptacle to fit into an...

Re: modified GFCI
Getting back to: My only question is can the cap coupled ground provide adequate ground impedance for shielding. So I looked in my Henry W. Ott book: "Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineering" http://www.hottconsultants.com/EMCE_book_files/emce_book.html He wrote about 100 pages on the su...

Re: modified GFCI
We let that nasty word 'ground' sneak into the conversation. So does 'ground impedance' mean - impedance to: a] Safety Ground/Protective Earth (EGC) connection to power company Neutral? b] Connection to Mother Earth - Grounding Electrode Conductor (GEC)? c] Connection to component chassis? d] Connec...
