Re: The Capacitor Site: "I Equals C*dV/dt" iequalscdvdt.com
What a great link, Wayne! For me, it's a refresher course as well as a lot of "....hmmm learned something new today" Interesting coincidence, but in the past week or so I discovered a new line of TDK branded MLCC C0G/NPO caps in axial/thru-hole packages at Mouser. I just messed with the Mo...

Re: JR's Popular Electronics Articles
I am now reluctant to post comments/memories re. Paia after reading JR's sad experiences with Simonton.

Re: Residential Lighting with LEDs: Retrofitting the Pink Ranch
As a side track, my Mom, age 90, still lives in the house I grew up in (Okla City). She has been running it by herself for years as my stepdad slowly faded due to dementia and then passed away this year. Mom has stock piled a huge supply of GE ("a good brand", she insists) 40/60/100 Watt i...

Re: Nichicon "Audio" Electrolytic Caps
I sincerely hope that at my age (64) console recapping is a thing of the past! lol I have looked in vain for more than a few years to find a much younger person to deal with that drudgery. Alas, I bet there will be Yet Another MCI or Trident or whatever (big SSL's are not on my list) to recap before...

Re: Nichicon "Audio" Electrolytic Caps
Belated thanks for all comments re. the Nichicon "audio" lytics...I had smelled some bovine excrement as I read the advertising prose, but tried to drill down to see what spec sheets would reveal. As usual, stick with 105C, long life, low ESR...and oh, yes...pick your fave wrapper coloring...

Re: Popular Electronics Articles by JR
For John Roberts (and anyone else for that matter): Did you know John Simonton, founder and Prez of Paia Electronics? Lots of his kit projects ended up in Poptronics. John was a mentor of mine when I was a teenage electronics geek in the late 1960's in Okla. City, which was also home of Paia. Perhap...

Re: Residential Lighting with LEDs: Retrofitting the Pink Ranch
I recall reading a few years ago about some USA govt. "contest" for incandescent-to-LED replacement bulbs, and the winner was a $50 bulb sold by Philips. A bit rich for my blood back then (I was fighting with CFL's). As the CFL's (and a few incandescents still left) die, the LEDs are takin...

Re: Residential Lighting with LEDs: Retrofitting the Pink Ranch
Thanks for the suggestions. I remember seeing a variety of Sylvania and Feit LED bulbs at Menards (big box hardware store chain up here in the midwest).
