Re: Entropy

Fitted the shower at the weekend and wished i had just bought the new parts for the old one. The batsrads have kept the name and changed all the internal parts. So the water inlet is higher up the body and needs a different connection. Which means it needs a longer power feed. Or a strategic hole dr...

Re: A Low Noise Balanced Input Moving Coil Preamp Using the ZTX851

Hans: I assume you have the ability to measure this stuff (which I don't). I have 2 boards from Wayne at the moment that I will be soldering up soon, so happy to send one to you for tests as I've got a heap of MM experimentation to get out the way so won't get around to using that until probably chr...

There is some hope

Philips has realised that having a dedicated hub just to control their products is NOT what customers want. This is the first positive step in a while!

Re: Entropy

The Bayonet reminded me (not sure why) of one episode where Reese was preparing to go on manoeuvres with the recruits and they were discussing how much kit they were taking and they were trying to outdo each other with how little kit they were taking. Then one guy walks in start naked with a knife i...

Re: Entropy

Ah, A curved pruning saw. Now I understand. I've had the daw answered by a 5'2" woman with one of those in her utility belt before. Glad she knew who I was. @JR: Your story just reminds me of an episode of 'Malcolm in the midde' for some reason, but suspect I'm hanging around with people with k...

Re: Entropy

This weekend entropy hit me. Wife and kids have been down with some flu thing all week so of course weekend was MY turn to feel carp. The shower is still playing up and the heating block had started leaking on it. Replaced that and it still shuts down after 3 minutes. Bother. So its probably the wat...

Re: Phono Transfer System Construction Information

The 150 likes low capacitance. Adding it will not help flatten things out. When I get this new preamp built that will be the first cartridge I experiment with to try and tally generator specs with end to end performance. If you look at the bottom graph you can see that the generator flattens out wit...

Re: Phono Transfer System Construction Information

Have clarified the spec and I don't have to handle the return from digital RIAA as that will go into another amp input, so I can use post RIAA gain on the analog path. Sweet. Boards in hand, time to order components :)

Re: Phono Transfer System Construction Information

well that is one of the things I want to investigate further. There is no accurate electromechanical model of an MM cartridge out there despite many attempts over the years. Thanks to Hans I now have some accurate electrical models so can hopefully extract the mechanical performance from that.
