NYT: Your Coronavirus Test Is Positive. Maybe It Shouldn’t Be.

Your Coronavirus Test Is Positive. Maybe It Shouldn’t Be.
Some of the nation’s leading public health experts are raising a new concern in the endless debate over coronavirus testing in the United States: The standard tests are diagnosing huge numbers of people who may be carrying relatively insignificant amounts of the virus.

Most of these people are not likely to be contagious, and identifying them may contribute to bottlenecks that prevent those who are contagious from being found in time. But researchers say the solution is not to test less, or to skip testing people without symptoms, as recently suggested by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Instead, new data underscore the need for more widespread use of rapid tests, even if they are less sensitive.

“The decision not to test asymptomatic people is just really backward,” said Dr. Michael Mina, an epidemiologist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, referring to the C.D.C. recommendation.

“In fact, we should be ramping up testing of all different people,” he said, “but we have to do it through whole different mechanisms.”

In what may be a step in this direction, the Trump administration announced on Thursday that it would purchase 150 million rapid tests.

The most widely used diagnostic test for the new coronavirus, called a PCR test, provides a simple yes-no answer to the question of whether a patient is infected. (Forum editor: Actually it doesn't. The virus can be dead or alive and the RNA being tested not necessarily that of the virus.)

But similar PCR tests for other viruses do offer some sense of how contagious an infected patient may be: The results may include a rough estimate of the amount of virus in the patient’s body.

“We’ve been using one type of data for everything, and that is just plus or minus — that’s all,” Dr. Mina said. “We’re using that for clinical diagnostics, for public health, for policy decision-making.”

But yes-no isn’t good enough, he added. It’s the amount of virus that should dictate the infected patient’s next steps. “It’s really irresponsible, I think, to forgo the recognition that this is a quantitative issue,” Dr. Mina said.

...

In three sets of testing data that include cycle thresholds, compiled by officials in Massachusetts, New York and Nevada, up to 90 percent of people testing positive carried barely any virus, a review by The Times found.

Now, the NY Times is admitting that the rt-PCR test is bogus.
That has been reported here for months...

So we now know that the tests, which have been used to inflate "cases" is bullshit and that the number of people actually dying of Covid-19 is about 6%, or 9200 people, of the 150,000+ thousand in the US that are being reported.
This is not a pandemic and it never was.
You've been conned and your future stolen.
Take off your damn mask and come out from under the bed.

Tennessee Woman Who Died 6 Months Ago Receives Letter Claiming She Has Coronavirus

Tennessee Woman Who Died 6 Months Ago Receives Letter Claiming She Has Coronavirus
A Tennessee woman died six months ago, but that didn’t stop the Shelby County Health Department from sending her a letter notifying her that she tested positive for the Chinese coronavirus and needed to self-quarantine, her bewildered son said Thursday.

WKYC reports:

Troy Whittington said he was surprised when he opened the letter this week from the Shelby County Health Department. He knew what was in that letter was false.

Whittington said a letter arrived from the Shelby County Health Department for his mother, Sandra Whittington. The letter says she has been diagnosed as COVID positive and needed to isolate.

That would be difficult, according to her obituary: the 66-year-old died February 16th. That was weeks before the first case of COVID-19 was detected in Shelby County.

“I’m just having a hard time understanding how they can say someone has COVID-19 when they are not even alive,” Whittington told the news outlet.

...

“It’s been six months, almost seven, since she passed away,” he added. “There was no testing that was done at that time. On her death certificate it was stated she died, what the cause of death was, and it was not COVID-19. It was COPD.”

According to Whittington, his mother passed away following a battle with stage 4 COPD while in hospice. She was later cremated.

When Whittington contacted the health department, he was told his mother was tested for the virus on June 20th.

Don't always ASSume bad intent for things that can be explained by simple incompetence.

Even if it is incompetence on the part of the agency reporting it known bad data is being used to advance an agenda.

No argument there... In fact it appears they are getting a little desperate.

I've watched as the new case news articles drifted from the front page above the fold, to middle of the paper below the fold as new case numbers improved and it was no longer politically useful to flog them.

2 months to go, I hope they don't do even more stupid stuff, but I don't feel very lucky. Good luck to us all, this could get even uglier than it already is.

Which is why they may be attributing Covid to people who died months ago from other causes.
Same strategy as sending mail-in ballots to dead dogs and cats.

With Covid 1.0 fizzling out V 2.0 will need to be released just prior to the election and Halloween.
Gates has promised it and that it will be an act of bioterrorism.
He should know - but not because he's an expert.
It's in the budget.

Our household received a letter yesterday asking us to take an online Covid survey and test.
They offered a $20 gift card...
I threw the letter away.

I had a hunch that the testing center nearby, which always had zero "customers," were paying people to get tested the day they were suddenly lined up by the hundreds.
It was just a hunch...

Remarkably Facebook asked me to share my opinion with them....

WTF do they think people already do on facebook?

"Dead" Virus Cells Frequently Trigger "False Positives" In Most Common COVID Test

"Dead" Virus Cells Frequently Trigger "False Positives" In Most Common COVID Test, New Study Finds
In the past, our reports raising questions about the accuracy of COVID-19 tests have been met with accusations of 'fearmongering' and spreading 'misinformation'.

But not today.

That's because new research from the University of Oxford’s Center for Evidence-Based Medicine and the University of the West of England has found that the swab-based technique used for most COVID-19 testing is at risk of returning "false positives" since copies of the virus's RNA detected by the tests might simply be dead, inactive material from a weeks-old infection. Although patients infected with COVID-19 are typically only infectious for a week or less, tests can be triggered by virus genetic material left over from a weeks-old infection.

The team's research involved analyzing 25 studies on the widely used polymerase chain reaction test. PCR tests use material collected with a swab - the most common type of test around the world, and especially in the US - then utilize a "genetic photocopying" technique that allows scientists to magnify the small sample of genetic material collected, which they can then analyze for signs of viral RNA.

What the researchers here have effectively found is that these PCR tests just aren't sensitive enough to distinguish if the viral material is active and infectious, or dead and inert.

For those who desire a more comprehensive understanding of how these tests work, the chart below can be helpful.

Professor Carl Heneghan, one of the authors of the study, said there was a risk that a surge in testing across the UK was increasing the risk of this sample contamination occurring and it may explain why the number of Covid-19 cases is rising but the number of deaths is static.

Receive a daily recap featuring a curated list of must-read stories.

"Evidence is mounting that a good proportion of ‘new’ mild cases and people re-testing positives after quarantine or discharge from hospital are not infectious, but are simply clearing harmless virus particles which their immune system has efficiently dealt with," he told the Spectator.

Professor Heneghan added that international scrutiny might be required to avoid "the dangers of isolating non-infectious people or whole communities."

World Bank Records Covid-19 Test Kits Exported In 2018

World Bank Records Covid-19 Test Kits Exported In 2018
The World Bank website has an active record for “COVID-19 Diagnostic Test Instruments and apparatus (902780) exports by country in 2018” even though the World Health Organization did not name Coronavirus “COVID-19” until February 2020 amid this year’s outbreak.

Now if Covid-19 wasn't known until November 2019 why were test kits being shipped in 2018?
Isn't it obvious that Coronavirus was pre-planned?

Update: It looks like Covid-19 test kits were also being exported in 2017:

There are 7 different coronaviruses that infect the human body, so there may be general coronavirus anti-body tests lumped in... or a mistake.
