Virologist Slams Mainstream Media's "Misinformation"

"Veteran Virologist Slams Mainstream Media's "Misinformation" About An Effective COVID Treatment"
On Friday, July 31, in a column ostensibly dealing with health care “misinformation,” Washington Post media critic Margaret Sullivan opened by lambasting “fringe doctors spouting dangerous falsehoods about hydroxychloroquine as a COVID-19 wonder cure.”

Actually, it was Sullivan who was spouting dangerous falsehoods about this drug, something the Washington Post and much of the rest of the media have been doing since for months. On May 15, the Post offered a stark warning to any Americans who may have taken hope in a possible therapy for COVID-19.

In the newspaper’s telling, there was nothing unambiguous about the science -- or the politics -- of hydroxychloroquine:

“Drug promoted by Trump as coronavirus game-changer increasingly linked to deaths,” blared the headline.

Written by three Post staff writers, the story asserted that the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine in treating COVID-19 is scant and that the drug is inherently unsafe.

This claim is nonsense. ... -treatment
The author closes with the following question:
Why is the American media trying to run the U.S. pandemic response with its own misinformation?
The answer is easy.

1) 70% of evening news advertising revenue comes from big pharma.
2) They want to sell trillions of dollars worth of vaccines without any product liability.
3) They want to soft-kill you to reduce world population.

Professor Who "Died of Coronavirus" Never Existed

An Arizona State University professor who documented her battle against COVID-19 on Twitter and subsequently died from the disease was found never to have existed.

In an elaborate cat-fishing hoax, Twitter user @Sciencing_Bi claimed to be an Indigenous pro-LGBTQ professor who was a member of the Hopi Native American tribe and was forced to teach during the coronavirus outbreak.

For months, @sciencing_bi had tweeted about their apparent battle with COVID-19, and being forced to teach in-person at Arizona State University in April. Early last week, @sciencing_bi tweeted about needing help fighting COVID misinformation on a COVID survivor Facebook group. The account tweeted extensively about social justice, the professor’s Indigenous heritage as a member of the Hopi tribe, the LGBTQ experience in academia, and their battle with COVID-19.

Despite being fake, the account had gained notoriety among science-minded blue checkmarks on Twitter.

The account went back to 2016 and frequently mentioned former Vanderbilt University assistant professor of neurology BethAnn McLaughlin, as noted by the New York Times:

Since 2016, it has posted often about issues around social justice in the sciences, with a focus on activism and research about sexual harassment.

It was also active in the career of Ms. McLaughlin, a neuroscientist. (News of the relationship between the Twitter accounts was reported by, Science and the Chronicle of Higher Education.) It was key in promoting a petition that called for Ms. McLaughlin to be given tenure at Vanderbilt University. She was not given tenure in 2017, a decision she said was influenced by her having testified against a former Vanderbilt professor accused of sexual harassment. Her effort to reverse that decision was unsuccessful in 2019, and she left the university that summer.

On one occasion, the account responded to someone asking Ms. McLaughlin for information about Vanderbilt with extensive details about the university’s salary structure.

But the fictional professor’s battle with COVID took a turn for the worse on July 31, when McLaughlin had the misfortune of informing everyone about @Sciencing_Bi’s death.

“Sad to report @Sciencing_Bi died from COVID this evening,” McLaughlin reported on Twitter last Friday.

The professor’s untimely demise prompted condolences “from people in academia, who said they knew the professor behind the account,” according to Vice.

However, no one actually knew the person as they didn’t exist.

Both ASU and the Hopi tribe told Motherboard they could find no information on the person in question. Then, after many had figured out the hoax over the weekend, Twitter suspended the @Sciencing_Bi account, along with McLaughlin’s.

ASU confirmed the hoax in an email to Motherboard, saying, “Unfortunately, this appears to be a hoax. We have been looking into this since this weekend and cannot verify any connection with the university.”

After the Zoom memorial, entomologist Michael Eisen said he was suspicious and began looking for proof of @Sciencing_Bi’s existence, but could find none.

“The combination of the weird things that were happening on the call and looking at the tweets and seeing how much they circled BethAnn, it just became obvious to me,” Eisen told the NYT. “‘Oh, this is BethAnn.’”

On Tuesday, after the hoax had been thoroughly debunked, McLaughlin announced she was behind the account.

“I take full responsibility for my involvement in creating the @sciencing_bi Twitter account,” McLaughlin told the NYT in a statement delivered by her lawyer. “My actions are inexcusable. I apologize without reservation to all the people I hurt.”

It remains to be seen whether McLaughlin will face justice for her fraud, but it’s a good lesson not to trust everything (or everyone) you see on the internet.

Democrat Says Hydroxychloroquine Saved His Life

Another Democrat Says Hydroxychloroquine Saved His Life
Paul Vallone, a Democratic New York City councilman, says he nearly died of COVID-19 earlier this year, but hydroxychloroquine saved his life.

“I couldn’t breathe, very weak, couldn’t get out of bed. My doctor prescribed it. My pharmacy had it. Took it that day and within two to three days I was able to breathe,” Vallone told The New York Post. “Within a week I was back on my feet.”

“We were in panic mode when I went down because I didn’t have a lot of immune response,” he added. “I needed something to stay alive.”

That something was hydroxychloroquine. Vallone said, it “worked for me.”

Paul Vallone wasn’t the only one who became a believer in the anti-malaria drug’s effectiveness in treating COVID. His brother Peter, a former city councilman who currently serves as a civil court judge in Queens, couldn’t deny the drug worked after seeing how it helped his brother.

Peter Vallone has a theory why there’s resistance to accept the drug’s potential.

“I guess all those doctors who are prescribing it are right,” he said. “This drug is already on the market and the patent is up so it’s cheap. A new drug won’t be. So big money does not want this drug to be used. Always follow the money.” ... fe-n766872

7 Year-Old "Dies From Covid"

7-Year-Old Boy In Georgia Died "From COVID-19"? There's Just One Thing...
So it seems that the boy died not "from COVID-19," but rather as the result of a seizure and a fall in the shower. It seems that, prior to his death, the child had zero Wuhan virus symptoms, and that after he was pronounced dead, "a rapid test showed evidence of COVID-19 positivity."

I don't know about you, but I've followed the news and the science on this virus as closely as most anyone, and I have yet to hear any reports of the Wuhan virus causing seizures. If this were the case — especially where children are concerned — it is a virtual guarantee that the media would have daily told us so. It would seem that fair and accurate reporting of this incident would include all of the circumstances surrounding this terrible tragedy and that this is almost certainly another example of someone dying with the Wuhan virus and not from it.

All the media have done here is give us another reason not to trust them in this grave matter. ... -one-thing
I agree with the author. I have yet to hear of anyone spontaneously having seizures not presenting Covid symptoms other than the early fear porn videos from China.

Maybe this is the more deadly V2.0 bioweapon "Dr." Bill Gates promised us.

Had this kid just received his back-to-school vaccinations? Just asking...
