Relax in southern comfort on the east bank of the Mississippi. You're just around the corner from Beale Street and Sun Records. Watch the ducks, throw back a few and tell us what's on your mind.

I think these were made around 1971-1972. I noticed that the lip behind the bezel was made by cutting away material over the full length of the inside. For the basic "tube" there are only 4 joints at each corner. Walnut must have been really cheap then since a lot was cut away. A saw cut on each side served as a circuit board guide for the clock board.

My brother isn't alive to ask but I think my Dad may have made the prototype. I think I remember the cases costing around $6-7. What a bargain even then.

WOW!!! :o

I have completely fallen in love with the design! They look really solid and sturdy
unlike everything else that exist on the market nowadays. Real piece of craftmanship!

I wished there were more clocks.

These used a very early AMI clock chip that was probably one of the first on the market. It had LCD drive capability but the display was 7 segment incandescent. There was a company at the time that made incandescent 7 segment displays in DIP packages so the clock used a bunch of NPN transistors to buffer the PMOS IC outputs.

NIXIE tube clocks are hot right now. I built one of those using RTL logic back when I was 12.
