THAT1646 SSM2142 Balanced Ouput Driver Comparison

Post by mediatechnology » Sat Jun 28, 2008 4:08 pm

I just got some samples of the THAT1646 OutSmarts driver and it looks very promising. It is a pin-for-pin replacement for the SSM2142.

One quick comparison I did was small-signal bandwidth. The outputs are resistively loaded in 600 ohms and are not driving any cable or significant capacitive load. Pardon my poor scope photos and blurred traces. And yes, there is a little RF at 820 KHz floating around here from WBAP-AM about 15 miles away.

Pretty good waveform integrity in the 1646. The output was taken from one output while driving 600 ohms differentially.
