Grounding on Ward Beck M441 and M402?

Post by lukebarber »

Hi folks, new poster here.

I'm in the process of racking up a set of these, and have a question about grounding. how do you think I should wire the input/output grounds? should I tie them both off to the ground pin, lift the output ground, or tie one or the other to mains earth pin?

I am using a the following power supply, which differentiates between the mains earth pin and ground pin relative to the 48vdc pin.

http://www.clrwtr.com/PDF/Sola-Hevi-Dut ... pplies.pdf

What the pcb lists as "V-" is actually the ground relative to the 48vdc output.

Thanks for any help!

I am not familiar with those, but for general advice look at "pin 1 problem" searches.

Short versions shields and pin 1 get bonded to chassis, audio treated differentially on pins 2 and 3

It would be helpful if you posted a schematic of the Ward Beck stuff or at least posted an edge connector pin out.
