Current Shunt Monitor Uses Flying Rails/Floating Supply
I think it may have been Gus about 10 years ago that had mentioned a TI, perhaps Burr Brown, flying rail instrumentation circuit.
Probably because I wasn't looking for it an image search today turned up this circuit from the INA117 data sheet.
The above may have been the one he was thinking about.
In any case it provides an interesting example of floating/flying supply rails.
