Re: John Roberts' audio articles
10 uH is large enough to require a core, unless you like big air core coils; did you ever measure a noticeable increase in distortion when you guys used them? Are you referring to saturation from DC currents or signal? Joe had an AP and ran lots of tests on the circuit before he started using them ...

Re: John Roberts' audio articles
PS: This console was developed in parallel with Peavey's Mark VIII sound reinforcement console. Several sub circuits were otherwise very similar. Those inductors may have been borrowed from the SR board, and crudely incorporated both together instead of separately (one at each device). This was a p...

Re: John Roberts' audio articles
Q = 0.009 with VR1 at 0Ω. Q = 8.25 E-6 at 25KΩ. I've put inductors in Rg to rolloff RFI. Yes, the Q is ridiculously low, but I was wondering about their purpose. At first I thought they might've been chokes, but the clear "L" and uH notation ruled out that theory. RFI rolloff makes sense....

Re: John Roberts' audio articles
Thanks, John!
Question, why did you decide to resonate that cap with the two inductors in the Cohen-style topology pre? The cap/inductors resonate at roughly 1.6 kHz.

Re: John Roberts' audio articles
That's too bad, I did check your webpage, though. I didn't know you were into poetry, and you even got published in a newspaper or something similar? Nice. I am too brute to have any sensitivity for poetry; I am unable to distinguish the good from the bad. I will make some web searches for the artic...

John Roberts' audio articles
Hey John.
I was wondering if you have a webpage with all your old articles that you used to write for different magazines? I think that they are a source of valuable information, and I would like to have them.
