Re: Laser Cutting Services Can Make Your Job Easier
I've gotten a few things from SendCutSend and they turned out decent. It was pretty much no frills. I see that article mentions TurboCad (yuck). Having used AutoCad LT for so long I stumbled onto Nanocad which is free and looks almost like ACAD circa 2009. https://nanocad.com/products/nanocad-free/

Re: Gerber Editing Fun
So in the upper part of the gerber file that thermal pad D21 should be defined. Its either a pre-defined aperture or a list of XY coordinates to make the feature. This is good reading if you're really digging in. https://www.ucamco.com/files/downloads/file_en/416/the-gerber-layer-format-specificatio...

Re: Gerber Editing Fun
You're a brave soul. I haven't edited gerbers since I worked at a local PCB shop back in the 90s. In those days we used GC-Prevue to verify a customers files and GC-CAM to prep them for manufacture because "back then" before RS-274X they sent a gerber file and an aperture file and sometime...

Re: Dale CMF55-series Resistor Distortion
Good info! I have seen this same phenomenon in RF designs as well based on one brand over another affecting the noise floor when measuring phase noise in oscillators. Many years ago I was tasked with evaluating SMD inductors when everything went lead free. Of all the brands Vishay-Dale were the only...

Re: Switch support/bezel - have you ever seen this part?
Wow. This is a good one. I'm usually able to dig around and find this stuff but not this one. Biggest issue I see is knowing the length of the threads on the switch and the length of the lever since both affect whether it sits below the surface, but you may already have that info. My guess also is i...

The flipside is that in 6 months the same alarmists will blame ice storms on the same thing. Rinse. Repeat.

Living like the amish I see. A local hardware store near me sells clothesline pulleys.
