Re: Entropy
@Bill have you considered using a conventional "hand-operated" toothbrush? They don't seem to ever require repair... I converted to electric only a few years ago on advice/orders of dentist. before then I considered electric silly. My first one (braun) was flawless until the battery holde...

Re: Entropy
I've hit a new low recently. I've had to repair a $10 electric toothbrush twice in 2 weeks. First time was some corrosion on the PCB which I cleaned. A week later it had flattened the batteries again and I noticed the rubber seal at the top was not holding water at bay. As nipping to the hardware st...

Re: Pirbright Institute, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Coronavirus Patent and You
Ferguson was "only" off by a factor of 25 times. The Paper is very readable, you should try the source rather than the edited highlights. His initial prognosis was for 250k excess deaths in UK if nothing was done. Something was done so the prognosis was improved. However there is still no...

Re: Entropy
Traditional European slow cooking used a hay box. You got the stew to the boil, then put it in the haybox during the day. A quick search suggests this did make it to the colonies but may have died out.

Re: home improvement turns into science fair projects?
Pulled up a topo: Looks like you're at 320 feet in a low spot. You get a lot of runoff and groundwater from the north? Is that a polite way of saying 'you live somewhere that is trying to return to swamp'? UK is very moist at the moment. The ground was saturated before xmas and the rainy season is ...

Re: home improvement turns into science fair projects?
I would have thought the float switch method would be a lot easier to do. Unless of course some of this is just for giggles to do it differently?

Re: Entropy
New drier arrived today and they took the old one away to recycle. The new one I am willing to be has all the same parts in as the old but is quieter and gets hotter quicker. Wife is happy. This gains me more lab time over the weekend so money well spend

Re: Entropy
Ugh. Unpowered everything checks out but when running only a few volts to the heaters. I hoped it was the relay, but that's fine. Unless I have missed something the timer has a worn/dirty contact that can't take any power. Of course that part is £60... And I am not taking a clockwork apart to try an...
