Re: Entropy

The ground water level down in the crawl space was finally high enough to turn on the sump pump... I may revisit this weekend to reconsider the float threshold level a little lower. [/update] JR The lower the better. But.... 1 When set too low, the pump might never stop because of loosing priming w...

Re: Entropy

Last nights 1" rain was enough to register down in my crawl space, but not the float threshold is set too high.... and pump was leaning over. Too wet right now to drag it out and mess with it. ==== I have a new entropy incident to debug.... my fancy remote indoor/outdoor thermometer stopped reading ...

Re: Entropy

Good job... I don't want to jinx mine by mentioning it, but my dryer keeps on truckin.... I considered updating it when I replaced my washing machine a while back, but nah, don't fix it if it isn't broke.

Re: Entropy

new entropy incident. My garden watering can (that is actually blow molded plastic) just sprung a leak... This can't be more than a few years old. I considered putting a self tapping screw into the pin hole to seal it up, but closer inspection revealed a crack in a seam, that would just split wide o...

Re: Entropy

So where does the water you pump out wind up? In the State highway drainage system? I'm still waiting for the rain... less than one inch forecast for tomorrow. :-( My latest upgrade to 1-1/4" discharge hose gets me 100' of run out distance. Just before this reset, I had the discharge hose dumping w...

Re: Entropy

I purchased a stainless steel strainer to use as a basket to sit it in and keep major debris from clogging it up. A nice hillbilly stainless steel strainer is a washing machine drum. I have started dismantling a washing machine, a work for rainy days. The starting motor AC capacitor is another nice...

Re: Entropy

Now I am anxiously waiting for the next rain storm so I can learn if my improved sump pump system works better. I am optimistic the check valve will prevent short cycling. The bad news is the added plumbing attached to the top of the pump discharge outlet has made it top heavy and less stable standi...

Re: Entropy

Because the access to your crawl space seems troublesome, the alternative to a submerged pump is a surface pump. In this configuration the pump is at ground level or a bit higher at an easy access location. Down you only have passive stuff: Intake pipe and foot valve. Here you do need, no air leak ...
