Re: op amp gain; vary Rg or Rf, and why?
When attempting to get best s/n at high gain you want low total impedance in feedback network (Rf and Rg in parallel). The pot varying the leg to ground give you lowest impedance at highest gain. The above hits the nail on the head. Safari is cutting off the right side of the image here, but Firefo...

Re: Sum bus theory and practice
John - Thanks for posting this. To our readers: The summing bus discussion in John's article begins about here: http://www.circularscience.com/des_art.pdf#page=4 I did figure 13 with a 1570/1246 and it worked pretty good. I used a servo to bias up the bases to remove the -Vbe offset at the emitters ...

Re: Wayne's headphone amp build
It should be unity gain. I haven't had any lack of adequate drive with cosnumer level "-10" stuff.
You might try the +9 dB trick here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=23&start=100

Re: Wayne's headphone amp build
Nice build! I had my Dad make me a pair of walnut wooden end-caps for dBx extrusion like that years ago and I should use them. I had a 3BX that came to me rack-mount I wanted to convert. I also use AKG K240Ms and I am certain I need more gain for those being higher impedance, 600Ohms. I think you ha...

Re: ms matrix- at last
Great job on the build Milos!
I haven't zoomed the images in the links. What are the switches for? It looks like some are ground lift and the other group bypass or mutes?
Miko - My vote is a dual mono/MS Pico compressor. No one's done that one here.

Re: Mid Side M-S Matrix Construction Information
Milos - Thanks for the test data. The 1646 line driver doesn't have as good a gain accuracy as the THAT1240 and 1246 line receivers do. You might swap the M and S 1646s and pick-up (or lose) a few dB. Loading by external gear will also have a great effect even if they are exactly unity gain. It does...

Re: Newark Corp now owns Cadsoft
OK, maybe it was Express PCB. I never use that part of it 'cause you do the really hard stuff which is layout.

Re: Newark Corp now owns Cadsoft
BTW I think that may have been the Orcad (several versions ago) that had Digi-Key integration.

Re: Newark Corp now owns Cadsoft
Do I recall a design package that is affiliated with Digi-Key? IIRC it had libraries for DIgi-Key parts and used Digi-Key PNs to generate the BOM.
Interesting to see what Mouser will do.

Doug:
The second and third from-the-last connection examples here http://us.tdk-lambda.com/lp/ftp/specs/C ... df#page=15 seem to indicate that the input and outputs are floating and that you can common them or use it to provide negative output.
