Re: Electrical Azimuth adjustment- aka crosstalk
My thoughts on calibration. I had started off thinking that a left channel only sweep followed by a right channel sweep then analyse off line would be the starting point. With that you could see the difference vs frequency across the band and also how different L-R and R-L cross talk were. Given we ...

Re: Electrical Azimuth adjustment- aka crosstalk
Much to digest there thanks. And glad to see this has been discussed this century! I'll come back once it's sunk in :) Calibration. Yes. tricky one that. I need to think about that some more. Not least because test records are in a lot of cases not that well calibrated as they did what they could in...

Re: Electrical Azimuth adjustment- aka crosstalk
Interesting. As I said, not currently sure how much this is needed on replay once mechanical damping is optimised. But might be an extra cherry on top and I like Cherries:). I'm more interested in what happens higher up the band. As a sort of on-topic aside. Have you seen any analysis of how Behring...

Re: Electrical Azimuth adjustment- aka crosstalk
well the de-vinyliser was really a bit of history as to how I meandered down this path. I'm still in the camp where I would rather damp the LF wibblies but it slowly made the penny drop on how important cross-talk management might be. I'm also not sure if we have two separate issues or just two side...

Electrical Azimuth adjustment- aka crosstalk
I have been mulling over the role of cross-talk in the vinyl experience for a few years now, triggered by this thread http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/analogue-source/284561-hypothesis-prefer-vinyl-douglas-self.html . After a bit of meandering Douglas didn't reach his goal of a vinyliser but did do an...

Re: Shure Discontinues Phono Products
Hi Les,
Welcome. As you 'were there' I have a few questions to tie up some loose ends over things that don't quite stack up over the way the V15 range worked. Would you be willing to field them?

Re: Digitizing LPs: How To Get Black Gold On Your Hard Drive
I'll stick with the M-S as it gives me the flexibility for whatever comes (I do have a Russian friend who does things with cartridges and he can modify them for M-S operation by rotating the coils). I have to admit that, for 35 odd years I never saw the need for a mono switch but added a resistive c...

Re: Flat Phono Preamp Based on John's P10 and 2SK389
The Denon namings over the years are very confusing. There are/were at least 8 factory variants and, as it's become the flathead V8 of the cartridge world there are a whole slew of retip options effectively off the shelf. It is quite astounding the longevity of this. Still not at VW Beetle levels, b...

Re: Digitizing LPs: How To Get Black Gold On Your Hard Drive
If I ever get back to my bench to finish the mk1 of the new phono preamp M-S conversion will be a must. I need a mono switch so side comes for free!

Re: Digitizing LPs: How To Get Black Gold On Your Hard Drive
I recognised that EMT immediately as soon as I saw it as have seen posts from Christian before. nice setup. I think he might be missing a few tricks though. Not least that there is a very good argument for doing an M-S conversion before declicking as the majority of clicks are vertical. Of course th...
