Re: Using the THAT1646 As A Transistor Pre-Driver/Headphone Amp

Very clever idea. Thanks for joining us and posting. I want to keep the complete amp DC coupled if possible, and in the 0dB setting the ofset is close to 0mV, but in the 9dB setting I get more that 200mV. But this is taken care of by a 15M Ohm resister to the negative voltage. This brings the ofset ...

Re: SSL Phase Meter Schematic

Since I was never a practicing engineer my use of the "phase meter" was for setting 2 track azimuth. I almost never used it for multi track azimuth preferring the mono sum method. I'm glad I don't have to deal with tape any more. :| I could see how the SSL type which indicates correlation ...

Re: Check Out This 9V Battery

The guy in the article was using clip leads and got hosed by it.

I guess those batteries were marked according to electron flow vs. conventional current flow. :ugeek:

Re: THAT1646 Current Booster and Transformer Driver

The nominal supply voltage is 27.5V, but it has to operate down to 17V. To minimize power dissipation (so it will work at higher temperatures), I am trying to keep the supply at 7 volts. OK. 7V rules out the 1646 since the minimum is 8V. If the elevated temperature requirement didn't prevent it you...

Re: THAT1646 Current Booster and Transformer Driver

Jeff - I drove a 150 Ohm Edcor primary with no problems using the 1646. The output produced up to +24 dBm.

Is this 28V single-supply?

Re: THAT1646 Current Booster and Transformer Driver

Hi Jeff - Thanks for joining us! https://www.ka-electronics.com/images/jpg/THAT1646_Current_Boost.JPG The 1646 in the current-boosted application shown above using "common mode drive" (sense inputs driven - both outputs tied together) does not have OutSmarts enabled. The outputs do not hav...

Re: SSL Phase Meter Schematic

https://www.ka-electronics.com/Images/jpg/MC14583_Pinout.jpg I was contacted with another error in the SSL Phase Meter Schematic. R22 and R24 each connect to pin 9 of T5 and T6. I caught the error on T5 but missed the T6 one. Both are the Ain inputs. Piero from Italy e-mailed me and noticed that R2...
