Re: new shiny hammer- or Universal comp

I assume you're not talking about buying the console.. :D I have pondered what to do with this technology. I long ago gave up on personally pursuing the kit business since I think the financial model is broken, due to manufacturing automation. There is probably a niche market, or should be, for thes...

Re: new shiny hammer- or Universal comp

Well I've heard back from the PLASA and AES shows and the Peak/VU meter was well received...

Re: THAT1510 THAT1512 Single-Supply Preamp with "T-Bias"

I think I have discussed this with you before but not sure if on a forum or in private correspondence. IIRC Paul Buff mentioned something very close in a private conversation about his Transamp a couple decades ago. He was using something like 50-100k resistors for DC bias to bases inside the potted...

Re: Phono Preamps

That's interesting and mostly good. :geek: While I implemented the real pole for 75usec RIAA time constant in both of my later published preamps (P10 and P100) I suspect the benefit of this is somewhat overstated. Obviously the RIAA record equalization does not rise all the way up to light, so this ...

Re: new shiny hammer- or Universal comp

Tying it to a PCB seems kind of constraining to me. I was hoping it might be seen as a universal meter solution to be integrated into sundry applications. I looked at your GR10 and this PIC approach wouldn't be smaller than that, more like the same size but with two meters in that same or similar fo...

Re: VCA bus mixer using all THAT all the time

This is mostly a mental exercise on my part. I don't think it would be that attractive as a stand alone line level mixer.

I have done some work with a console company that sells a VCA model so it might be worth them considering for one of their large consoles.

Re: new shiny hammer- or Universal comp

I am pretty sure I could make my digital LM391x in a 18 pin PIC 2x8 or 2x16 of Pk/VU/LIN or any combination (1 PIC and several 8 bit latches). Does anybody have any interest? To get the price right I have to buy 250 min so I don't feel lucky. In onsey twosey this would have to be $10+ which is too m...

VCA bus mixer using all THAT all the time

I first wrote about current source summing back in 1980. I need to get Wayne that old console design article I wrote, if he doesn't already have it. The principle is pretty simple. Instead of resistors feeding a simple virtual earth inverting amp with the noise gain build up on N+1 for the number of...

I'm not familiar with blammo, but I'm sure my neighbors wouldn't appreciate me using c4 in town.
