Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Gen 3 Performance Measurements

Got my Scarlett a few days ago, I haven't tested it to the fullest but I must say I am impressed, the noise level is around -150dBV with minimum gain, I've measured it using ARTA. The next step will be to test THD, THD+N and IMD performance. I also own a ultra low distortion oscillator, the THD+N sp...

Re: I love modern technology

VLC is a product of Video LAN which is a stand-alone player. It has both positive and negative audio offsets. Wouldn't help you in your situation but you might want to install it on your Mac and PCs. It will play just about anything. +1 on VLC, a lot of players won't play stuff that VLC will, or th...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Gen 3 Performance Measurements

I bought a Scarlett 2i2 Gen 3 around 3 days ago, it was $148 with shipping on e-bay. I will be using it for measuring audio equipment and to measure acoustic instrumentation via MATLAB for my PhD work, I will have to use the ASIO4ALL drivers in order for it to work properly with MATLAB, I'll report ...

Re: Analog Devices Agrees To Buy Rival Maxim

Is this good or bad about parts quality, performance, availability, price, second sourcing ? Usually when a company buys another company a lot of ICs get dumped and no new ICs under the old company name get produced, for example TI and National, TI dumped a lot of great National parts like the LME ...

Re: Analog Devices Agrees To Buy Rival Maxim

Wow thats big news!

Seems like LTSpice will now incorporate maxim models.

Seems like the entire IC industry is closely becoming more and more a duopoly between TI and AD, next step is to buy ON and ST

Re: I love modern technology

I have seen a video, where the guy yanks SMC caps with pliers in a twisting move, but it is not clear wether the PCB pads survived. I am 99% sure, all this monitor needs is this one cap renewed. Are you refering to Mr. Carlson's Lab videos? He yanks the caps with some pliers. I remember I cringed w...

Re: I love modern technology

The odds are your TV needs new caps. Yeap, I know, thats what I mentioned in my previous post. However, I am lazy, I will wait until it doesn't work at all to replace them. One has clearly a cap that vented, its top is cracked. Trouble is, this cap is SMC on a fragile board and I have never done su...

Re: I love modern technology

I still have my 50" LG plasma TV from '09, its not a smart tv and at some point I considered changing it for a smart TV, that is until I found the Amazon Fire Stick, for $40 it turns your dumb tv into a smart tv. I just love the picture of plasma TVs, it doesn't look as pixelized or digitized as the...

Re: "I Am A Google Deplorable" 855-290-0342

It's quite obvious that corporations, not governments rule the world, it wont be long until we are like 1984. There was a movie, can't remember the name, set in the future, were two companies ruled the world and wars were fought between these two companies, there were no longer countries, but territ...
