MicMix MasterRoom XL-305 Spring Reverb Clone

Update August 2021 Shortly after I revived this project back in 2018 I was contacted by Chris Yetter of AudioScape. Chris was interested in a reverb product and had heard great things about the MicMix MasterRoom XL-305. I agreed to help Chris with the re-issue doing both the circuit design and teac...

Re: OTB Mixer Using Current Summation

Funny bit is almost zippo opamps in audio path... one in sum amp, + dedicated input and output balancing circuitry (THAT?). Yeah. Sounds good. 1246/1206 on the input, VCAs, an OA for final I-V and another 1646 for balanced out. The signal path is pretty short. Yes the CV is the part-intensive porti...

Re: OTB Mixer Using Current Summation

As many of you can tell I renamed this thread before Google starts to take the original title too seriously. :ugeek: If you have a better title idea speak now before this one gets trapped in the wayback machine. I think this is only the third or fourth time I've had to "mod" anything here ...

Re: Pease - What's All This Adjustable Slew Rate Stuff Anyhow?

I haven't visited this thread in awhile: emrr wrote: That means pan and faders I can grab and drive for max ergonomics and efficiency. What about rotary knobs on the front panel (to keep it 3U) for both level and pan with Midi to allow an external linear-throw fader control surface. Wouldn't that be...

Re: Pease - What's All This Adjustable Slew Rate Stuff Anyhow?

JR - Here's something you might look at WRT pan law: http://www.thatcorp.com/datashts/dn120.pdf I do think one might need an insert pre master fader dunno. Would anyone really need linear-action faders? Many of the OTB I see are rotary which would allow linear pots and linear dB control law. It woul...

Re: Pease - What's All This Adjustable Slew Rate Stuff Anyhow?

John - Thanks John. If you want to draw something up I can build and test it on a small scale proof-of-concept basis. Just the basic summing core is all we'd probably need. Doug - You could help greatly by providing a feature set. Be thinking about that. Once we prove the summing concept we'd need t...

Re: Pease - What's All This Adjustable Slew Rate Stuff Anyhow?

John - I found the article I was thinking about: "Digital vs. Analog Summing" ProAudio Review July, 2007. I can't find it on their website, the search function there seems very, very slow. Google can't find it either. I can send you a scan of it. I agree that the kit business isn't going t...

Re: Mid Side M-S Matrix Uses No Precision Resistors

Thanks Roger.

I still need to prototype the AD797 version to check stability. It will quite likely have a 619 ohm and a 1K5 Rfb network.
