Chris - Being a Memphian you are the person to ask:
Are Gridley's and Rendevous still open? There was a special in the food section of the Dallas Morning News today about pulled pork barbecue. These two names came to mind. If the answer to either one is yes I'm planning the trip now.

Re: Question for producer4000
Rendevous is still around however the general consensus is that quality has gone down.
I cannot say personally as I have never dined there, but among some longtime
and trusted Memphians that seems to be the verdict. Your mileage may vary.
I think Gridley's is still there, but let me ask a more authoritative source.
OKAY> Three Gridley's locations to serve you. The one on Winchester looks to be the safest*.
Of course you already know you can't go wrong at Phil's Place in the Peabody. Ask for Ed.
Your service will be incredible.
I was in Montreal at the end of April and had great food. I'll have to post to the other, long forgotten culinary thread.

*Memphis has changed a lot in the past few years. I'm actually about 5 miles into Mississippi.
