In my correspondence with Bob I mentioned that I thought the SSL 82E149 active mic pre was dumb. He asked why (page 3 but hard to see) and I explained to him what I didn't like about active mic preamps and phantom power.

I wrote in the DC-coupled preamp thread that it had been bugging me for a long time. Until today I didn't remember just how long it had been bothering me...
