Texar Prism clone prototype Finished Version
Re: Texar Prism clone prototype
Funny thing is the parts Im waiting on are LED spacers for the displays. I managed to build up two processor boards this evening in the meantime.

Re: Texar Prism clone prototype
I made some progress getting one board and the the display boards up and running. Found out I reversed the order of the display LEDs but that was fixed with a software change. Another issue I discovered was that when I decided on the suggested alternative for the DG418 I picked the one rated for 8V max supply. It was a head scratcher trying to figure out how a handful of TL072's could be drawing 150mA but my finger found the problem. I had enough spares of the correct part to replace them on one board and ran a functional test and everything checks out. If the replacements get here in time before moving my son to college I'll try to get both going and sample some audio. I have the audio in/out boards on order with bypass relays and THAT1246/THAT1646 doing the bal to un-bal. Thats all for now kids.

Re: Texar Prism clone prototype
Will it be possible to bring any of the 'under the hood' parameters like attack, release and ratio, out to the front panel? To use it in a production as opposed to broadcast environment I think that would be necessary. Really cool project though. Following closely.
Re: Texar Prism clone prototype
I think that is a possibility I can look into. Since it was designed in the flavor of the Texar unit I have 3 analog inputs from front panel pots currently; gate level, density and AGC. The Texar only made the gate and density as a front panel adjust but I added agc to allow the slow agc to be adjustable from 2 to 8 seconds full expand to full compress and vice versa. Any of the dynamic parameters are in code so a code change would allow other functions. I also added an RS232 port and I may add some features to this design that can be adjusted with serial commands. I'll probably write a PC program to make this easier and then the user can have presets they can load in for various setups.Gold wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 12:33 pm Will it be possible to bring any of the 'under the hood' parameters like attack, release and ratio, out to the front panel? Sounds like a good plan.
Re: Texar Prism clone prototype
While Im waiting on some more parts I decided to try my hand at desinging the front panel for this thing. I finally think I have the hang of the software, or at least I hope this is what I will end up getting when I order it.

Re: Texar Prism clone prototype
Looks great!
Shouldn't level level controls go to "11?"

Re: Texar Prism clone prototype
11? I dunno. Is there a standard scale for audio levels? Most everything I own doesnt even have scales.mediatechnology wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 6:56 pm Looks great!
