Disagreement is healthy but at Group DIY all it takes is one person to disagree and the subject becomes "controversial."

The overly-sensitive snowflakes run the asylum. The place has become seriously fucked-up.

Its laughable banishing a post that makes such valid point , whats there to argue about , that the government let it happen ,facillitated it or it was behind the whole f'king thing ?
Its clear it struck a bell with a few , how many more wanted to comment but didnt because of the oppressive atmosphere ,
It reminds me a lot of school , except were all grown ups here .

Theres a total lack of transparency and no accountabillity , its like they send in the spooks at night to remove content unfavourable to the regime .

I saw my reaction score nearly cut in half after the Brewery cull , almost every post I ever made in there vanished overnight.
Contentious as the subject matter in some of my posts was , I didnt make those points creating arguments or insulting people,
they were earned fair and square ,
Soundwaves promised me she'd have it looked into but I never heard back .

Its frustrating being on the outside looking in without being able to contribute to the electronic discussions ,
of course I miss it and the people .

It would be nice to hear back from a few members ,
but I can easily understand why they wouldnt risk comment on the subject , even here .

The way the brewery was handled was an absolute clusterfuck up the walls ,
The air in there hasnt cleared , Puchos still busy cracking fart and ass jokes but its like everyones afraid to laugh in case they breathe in a
stench that brings tears to their eyes.

I am sorry to say that it has been dead for years now, at least as we used to know it. I believe JR is still waiting for an official explanation from Ethan, maybe not. But most of the relevant characters were already long gone anyway: NYDave, PRR, Sam Groner, bcarso (RIP), you name it. Who's left there? Abbey, JR and Jakob, that's it, and many of the GDIY old timers are also here as well, although they tend not visit so often. So it is not like anything is being lost, but rather it was already lost. It was great while it lasted, though. GDIY has a great section on technical documents and DIY projects, but as a forum it has reduced to a mere interaction in the Brewery and answering questions from newbies.

In my opinion, we are better off here in this little corner that Wayne kindly provides. Perhaps it just needs more promotion. Another option is diyaudio.com. Sure enough, diyaudio is more hi-fi rather than proaudio, but it is also a very large forum.

I deactivated his account. It is he that started many of the contentious threads at GDIY.

I guess it was inevitable, adding an extra nearly 25,000 heads was bound change the dynamics and noise level .

Theres still plenty of good stuff going on over there and many new members who are genuinely hungry for knowledge and readiliy absorbing it , theres still plenty of senior members who give of their time and expertise with a genuinely good spirit and even though Im gone , it makes me glad to read it .
Unfortunately theres many more who just want the placebo effect of replacing a component here or there with something fancy and convincing each other they've made a silk purse out of a sows ear .

There was many longstanding members who voiced their opinion about Ethan-gate and the subsequent smoke screen around site ownership , in that respect the Admins left the users down badly ,questions still remain unanswered ,but now the voices have been rendered silent ,

Speak fool , speak the truth and shame the devil or youd get a clip around the ear and a kick up the backside
Speak the truth nowadays and all the snowflakes would melt

What's bothersome about Group DIY is that if you speak the truth, and support it with facts and primary-sourced authoritative sources, some people don't want to hear it. They won't even look. Their minds are closed.
That's OK - it's their choice - and they scream you are a conspiracy theorist and spreading misinformation. That's their right.

But what IS NOT their right is preventing other people from hearing it. Yet they are accommodated.

Some of it is weak-mindedness and some is nefarious.
Many have normalcy bias which in this day and age will get you killed.

I've never understood why the ownership of Group DIY is so hostile to people asking about site ownership.
Their behavior suggests that they have something to hide.

I "own" this site - hosting costs me $54.07 per month plus annual domain registrations and I have nothing to hide.
The KA-Electronics.com store costs me nothing other than PayPal and credit card fees.
I use lots of storage and pay nothing extra for it.

Other than spammers I've banned/blacklisted only two members.
One who constantly wanted to argue and when challenged would shift the argument without responding to the challenge.
That got annoying and I think they had a problem with alcohol. They are still active at GDIY and have been a jerk there to.

The second was JR who has destroyed Group DIY.
He's been very unfair to many of us there.
He's been a valuable contributor here from time-to-time but having destroyed one forum I didn't want to give him the opportunity to do it here.

FYI: In case you see that I edited every post it's because I mis-spelled the word "Group."
So I altered the thread title in each post.

I read the followup to the rockford files discussion on the Jingle thread over on GDIY ,
The original thread was well recieved , took a few of us on a trip down memory lane , theme tune on in the backround , happy days ,
Then JR makes the only remotely political comment on the subject ,
Another member lodges a complaint about that ,
and the whole thing gets bundled down chute into room 101 ,

Its like purposefully chumming the waters before shooting fish in a barrel ,
It gives vexatious complainants and people with axes to grind a power of vito over anyone who says anything remotely political that they dont agree with , even if the original was a side conversation between other members .

In the course of normal business in the electronic sections there often politically charged exchanges , in the troubled times we find ourselves in its inevitable , luckily much of this letting off of steam goes unreported and the parties invloved at least have a chance sort out their differences and get back on topic ,

Creating a platform for snowflakeism ,
its like an invitation to throw a spanner in the works ,
it deserves its own entry in the 'Entropy Continued' section .

Participation in any form at Group DIY is a setup for failure.

The system they have in place allows any anonymous individual to shit-hole entire threads.

No one in their right mind will continue to contribute if this continues.

I took a little look at the brewery today and this had popped up out of nowhere , maybe it slipped the net or its put there as bait , all the main protagonists are there and actually people are being unusually diplomatic , putting their points of view across and leaving out personal slurs , censorship ironically is the main subject matter .

Its obviously a political thread , they dont belong in Brewery , but the exchanges contained in it are cordial enough ,

Now its open season for anyone on the site to complain this thread for political content , and it has to go to room 101 , rules are rules ,

Funny how the closing comment is about not wanting to bait the waters ,

Thanks for the update.
I will no longer go there period.

I never really participated in the political threads - my objective was to warn people about the Covid and environmental scams etc. which have a political aspect but also present an existential danger to all of us.
Unfortunately a great many have been brainwashed and psychologically damaged to the point I'm now comfortable writing these people off and letting them suffer the consequences of their ignorance.
It's the "I don't care about facts and evidence crowd" who are so far gone they cannot be saved.

My accounts are setup for deletion in about 10-12 days.
There are some seriously fucked-up people there and also some good ones.
My remaining life is too short for their bullshit. I have other fish to fry.
